medical volunteers: treating and teaching

your support: a direct impact

$30 creates a massive impact for individuals, families, and the community.

Thirty dollars is Tiba's average cost to provide lifesaving care to a person in need of surgery in rural Kenya. The results cannot be overstated for individuals, their family caregivers, and their community--but the cost in U.S. dollars can be remarkably low.

medical volunteers: treating and teaching

Tiba sends more than 100 medical volunteers annually to rural Kenya, to treat patients and teach local Kenyan medical professionals.

These volunteers save lives by treating patients and by building the long term capacity of the local health care system through teaching. Furthermore, many report that the experience improves their skills in their home countries.

Erika Kwock, a California OB/GYN, for instance, recently returned from Kenya.  She was deeply impressed by the intensity of local health care issues and the talent and perseverance of her Kenyan counterparts. Dr. Kwock is already talking about returning to Kenya.

In their own words:  "Working with Tiba in rural Africa has been the privilege of my medical career." --Peter Sherris, MD, MPH
