What does $100 mean in rural Kenya?
Without effective healthcare, a community can never be productive or prosperous.
On the front lines of this effort, Tiba’s 500 community health workers care for thousands of patients. They are often the only resource for rural Kenyans in need of both emergency and preventive medical treatment. Tiba continually invests in the financial sustainability of these hard working individuals.
Tiba is also funding three vital community health programs: bikes to dramatically increase the number of families health workers can serve; wheelchairs to help bring people with disabilities into school and work environments; and health insurance for teenage girls at a vital crossroad of HIV, pregnancy, and productivity.
"We don't like the word hero much, but there is no other way to refer to our community health workers. They are some of the most dedicated, talented, caring human beings we have ever encountered." --Dr. Gail Wagner, founder of Tiba
